Surf World Series, this is a game I had as a demo for a really long time. I just wasn’t 100% sold, but I got over the measly price tag and got it. For what I feel is a Dreamcast replica of Championship Surfer, fitted for PS4… I really enjoy this game. It offers much more than you would think. Its a very relaxing game with a mild punk rock playlist to put you in the mood to slash some waves or just sit on your board and let the sets pass by. It starts off easy, there’s not much variance of challenges… you simply beat scores and try not to fall. And it does sound easy, but I assure you it gets tough once you hit the semi-pro tiers. Here’s an example of that. I went back to clear out my final challenge – no wipeout for the full event beating score. I beat the score within my first two waves, decided to play it safe and sit the remaining time.
This is a great warm-up game. The scheme in which tricks are played are based on button combinations. What this game offers is great coordination in a timely manner which pays off in your score. For an indie game, and what seems very little marketing, it’s solid fun time.
